Q.1. What should a beginner do when they first enter the Dharma?
A. Whena beginner for the first time enters the Dharma, the should understand the unique qualities and blessings of the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. Knowing thus, from the depth of their heart, they should trust and show great respect to them. They should know that the Buddha is the one who shows the path to liberation, the Dharma is the pathe leading to liberation and the Sangha is the spiritual friends who support you on the path to liberation... (p.9)
4) Words from my teacher, Khenpo Kunga Rinpoche:
- "管自己没有烦恼, 管别人就有烦恼" [if you manage yourself there is no dissatisfaction; if you try to manage others, there bound to be dissatisfaction]. - 2009
- "When i visited some houses in Malaysia, I see the old people watching the television and nodding away, or staring at the screen; i felt sympathy and sad...more sad is when i went to funeral chanting, the deceased siblings/relatives fight because of money. Thus i request you all must practise the Dharma, even teaching your parents simple Buddhist mantra (心咒)or chanting (佛号)such as Om Mani Padme Hum (观音菩萨), Namo Amitabhe (南摩阿弥陀佛)for peace of mind and heart.-Extract from a short Dharma Talk by Khenpo on 10 April 2011, Dragon Zambala Puja Day (9-10 April 2011, Dzogchen Samten Chokling Centre, KK).
- "i visited Bhutan last month, you can see the people go to the field caring for their cattles, their lives are simple, they practise the Dharma daily, not rich materially but they are joyful people. We have to learn from them, cut down our greed over unending thirst for material gains yet non-satisfaction, and do not bother to spare even a few minutes for spiritual practice daily or weekly" - Extract from a short Dharma Talk given by Khenpo on 17.5. 2011, Vesekha (Wesak) Day
